Confession time
Dec. 14th, 2012 07:53 amI didn’t really like the Lord of the Rings movies.
Well, that’s not really accurate. I liked them less and less as they
progressed. The first one I do like a fair bit. The second one is OK and
the third is the one I really don’t like.
I don’t think it is just because I do like the books. I liked the Harry
Potter books, and still like the movies. (But, think the books are better.)
I just don’t like the changes they made to some of the characters. And,
the way they changed the ending takes away what I always thought was one of
the most important parts of the story.
That was the decision of the creative team that made the movie. I’m not
saying they’re wrong, or anything like that. Just that most of the things
I thought were the best parts of the story, they appear not to like. It’s
a matter of taste and these weren’t really to mine.
So, I’m worried about this Hobbit movie coming out today. I have a lot of
friends who seem to be very excited about it.
As a story I always liked the Hobbit more than LOTR.
Hope the movie is good.

Date: 2012-12-14 07:02 pm (UTC)A good friend of mine living in DC saw the movie last night and she said that she really liked it alot. It is LOOONG (2h 46min) so don't drink too much soda. Makes me wonder what he left for the remaining (2) installments....

Date: 2012-12-15 02:45 am (UTC)I've always thought it an important part of the story that it says that no matter how important you think your stuff is, there is someone who will never care about it. Even if they're a nice person and all that. They've just got other fish to fry.

Date: 2012-12-16 01:22 am (UTC)There is a lot of diverts to explain back story and circumstance that is only hinted at in the book
but that's all I'm going to say.
Visually stunning, absolutely. As much as total impact I felt with Fellowship and 2 Towers. I almost cried at the incredible scenery
and richness of the [artistic] feel.
There were some really ridiculous parts in Hobbit. Jesse and I made a few Star Wars references....But I'm trying to stay mum.
Overall, I did enjoy Hobbit, everyone who went seemed to also enjoy it, if we did pick a lot apart.
