Now, last Saturday in pictures

I rented a car to drive down with. My station wagon probably could have
made it. But, with more than 200,000 miles on it, in the traffic we hit,
I’m glad we had a newer car.
It doesn’t look that big, but it was much bigger than my wagon.

My wife had been worried that the Sith would scare the kids. But, Gabriele
came out of her house wearing a Darth Vader mask. She quickly grabbed the
red lightsaber and showed that Sith wouldn’t be a problem.

Her brother Ben wasn’t going to be left behind in this. He may be only 4,
but he grabbed the double ended lightsaber and was ready to use it. (With
some help…)

I think the red helmet went very well with the rest of [livejournal.com profile] blue_micha's Sith
costume. It wasn’t supposed to be part of it and I don’t think she could
fight in it. But, I still think it looks cool.

Jedi like wookies. Even little wookies.

Gabriele’s parents had a Star Wars theme cake for her too.

The Darth Vader on the cake was supposed to play music and/or talk. But,
two engineers and a doctor couldn’t make it do it.

Gabriele’s dad, Al, seemed very happy at how we kept the kids busy.

His mother in law has never seen any of the Star Wars movies and didn’t
seem to have a clue what was going on.
“You’re some kind of ninja?” she asked.
“Space ninja,” I told her.
“Oh,” she said. She seemed OK with staying off the side and watching.

We tried to get a picture with all of the lightsabers glowing. It didn’t
work out that well.

Two of our troupe members made these costumes for us. They came out quite
well.
