Practice makes better
Nov. 18th, 2012 09:14 pmWith out last show of the year last weekend, Phoenix Swords has entered its off season.
One of the things I want to do before shows start up again next March is some more historical development.
So, I brought most of my selection of historical sword manuals with me to practice today.

The few folks who showed up for off season work pondered what to work on.

They finally decided on the rapier from Meyer’s 1570 book . German rapier is different from some of the other sources. Mostly because Meyer keeps a lot of cuts in when most of the others have thrown them out.
My foot has been really bothering me yesterday and today, so I mostly read from the book while the others did the moves.

But, there were a few times I had to break out the Hallmark lightsabers to show how it should work. I use them because I can actually hit people with them and not hurt them.

And, there are some people in the group that have trouble getting it if you don’t complete the motion.
And, yes, they are lightsabers made by the Hallmark greeting card company as party favors for kids.
