End of another era

Sword practice started off fairly sparsely attended today. Both of our new members were there.
One of our medium term members needed some help with targeting that led to a strange sort of multi-arm thing going on.

The person who started the sword troupe that my wife and I split off from to form Phoenix Swords 10 years ago had decided to sell off all of his ren faire stuff.
So, he brought it by practice to see if anyone wanted to buy any of it.

He is doing well, but is on some extreme diet/exercise plan and has lost almost half his weight.

I guess that’s good, but too me I think he’s gone too far and is too skinny.
But, that’s me. I’m fat.
Although on the way to practice my wife and I agreed “don’t just buy the whole lot off of him”, we bought the whole lot off of him.

He is the person who got us into performance sword fighting 12 years ago. (Before that was just stage and SCA.) I know he hasn’t performed in about 10 years. But, it is still strange to be buying all his stuff.
He did have a good wheeled bag to cart it around. And, when he offered to throw that in, I think that changed my wife’s mind.
Anyhow, our two new members are doing well. J is outstanding in his field.

Seriously, he practices his moves even when I don’t have a partner there to do it with him.

He’s young and enthusiastic. Nothing wrong with that.
And, I did practice with him some.

And, when Kara showed up she practiced with him too.

We were teaching out other new member the fight my wife and I wrote 12 years ago. But, we’ve done it enough we can’t describe it, we have to do it. So, we did.

J and Kara went off and worked on rapier fights.
