Question #30
Sep. 5th, 2012 07:51 pmThis is in answer to the
#30) How you would like people to remember you
In all honesty, this is the question that got me to answer the first 29.
So, maybe as someone who will go through a lot to get what they want?
But, seriously, I don’t really expect or want to be remembered as such.
I’m just some person who is a conflicting mess of things just like pretty much everyone else I’ve ever know.
That’s not really worth remembering.
What I’d like to be remembered is the things I’ve done.
And, top of that list is the things I’ve done that have helped others do things.
That’s one of the “secret” purposes of Phoenix Swords. To give people a chance to get out in front of an audience and perform. People who might say “That looks like fun, but I could never do it”. We give them the means and opportunity to do it.
I want people to be able to do that. To stand in front of a crowd and be cheered and applauded. I want to help them do that, and do it myself too.
But, I’d rather they remembered that they got to do that then they remembered me.
I want to help people create special moments and special times in their own lives.
If I’m remembered as part of it isn’t so important.
This is something I have been doing for a long time. It started more than 40 years ago when I was my brother’s imaginary friend. He had trouble dealing with me, so I was someone else he could deal with out of a Godzilla movie. I, his brother, became less important so he could pretend to be who he wanted to be.
I’m very big on going off and doing things. But, to let other people see things or do things.
I like to take people places they’ve never been, museums, cities, states, etc.
But, so they remember doing that, going there, seeing things.
Not to remember me.
I’m sure some of me will be remembered in all of that. But, even if it isn’t, I’d rather other people got to do and see more.
Get out. Do things. See things. Talk about it.
If I’m going that way, I’m happy to give you a ride. Or, to suggest some good things to do and see.
And, if you’ve got some good stuff, by all means share.
Remember that, not me.
