Another strange dream
Apr. 16th, 2008 08:46 amBack in the 80’s and early 90’s my wife and I did a very small comic book
(published only in Worcester at one comic book store) with characters based
on me and my college roommates if we had super powers. In the dream, I was
the character based on me.
We had agreed to do a fund raising wrestling match for charity at the
Worcester Centrum. Two of us had agreed to show up, and I was scheduled to
be the second match. I don’t know which of my friends was the first
because they were taken to get ready and I was told to wait in the stands.
I wanted to get a good view, so I tried to get up to the upper level. The
stair ways were very difficult to navigate. When I got to the top, I found
the upper level was under construction. There weren’t any seats or guard
rail along the balcony edge. I still went to the edge and looked down,
only to see the fight was already over.
I headed back down the stairs and came out at the main level. In the time
it took me to get there, they had filled the entire floor of the stadium
with six feet of water. The character I was in my dream had
magnetic/electrical powers so I assumed they were doing it to “short” me
out to make the contest more fair. I could see the wrestler I was supposed
to fight treading water out in the middle of the water.
I debated just zapping the water and finishing it there, but decided that
wouldn’t be a very good show for the people giving money to charity.
At that point the people trying to wrangle the stadium mascot, a bobcat,
into it’s cage let it get loose. It was a very big bobcat, being about as
large as a big dog. Everyone ran away from it as it seemed pretty mad.
Being (more or less) invulnerable, I walked up to it.
“Get in your cage,” I said to it, pointing to the cage.
It snarled at me and swiped at me with its claws. They hit my leg and just
stopped.
“Stop that and get in your cage,” I said.
It swiped at me again.
“No!” I said, firmly, to it.
It did it again, so I zapped it. It jumped and landed on it’s back at the
opening to it’s cage. I pushed it the rest of the way in and locked the
door.
The wrestler was still swimming around in the center waiting for me.
Dream ends.
The hockey team that used to play there was the Worcester Ice Cats. They
don’t any more, but that’s probably where I got the cat from in the dream.
Don’t know about the rest of it. I’ve written a bunch of stories recently
for my wife, so I guess they’re on my mind.
The second dream involved me being in the old apartment in Worcester. We
were raising lizards and I was trying to raise mice to feed them. But, the
mice were in a cardboard box and chewed their way out, leaving it empty.
That’s all I remember about that.
