Last night we went in to the Revel’s harbor cruise . They have 2 a year and we always try to get to at least one of them.
You cruise around Boston Harbor singing sea shanties. Maybe that’s not for everyone, but it is totally for us.

Of course the challenge is actually getting into Boston. Traffic was bad, bad enough I was surprised to find the Red Sox were not playing. (At least at home.) But, we did get into the city. What was once the bus terminal now seems to be some sort of ninja pajama school. But, we still found the parking garage under the bay and parked there.

For the first time I can ever remember, they actually let us on the boat on time! Usually we have to wait for the airport water shuttle to come in, load and set off before they let us on. This time, we loaded up, said hi to the dilapidated pier we always see and watched the water shuttle wait for us.

The flip side to that was we waited on the boat while the water shuttle did its thing. But, I’d rather be on the boat than on the dock. So, it worked out well for me.
While waiting we saw some very nice ships sailing around. They fit a lot of folks on that one with the red sails. Some day we’ve got to try that.

We set off and sailed out into the harbor. Some other boats passed us so quickly I couldn’t even get a photo.

As we sailed out past the airport we saw the State Of Maine docked on the side. I guess it is a training ship from the maritime school in Maine. They sail it back and forth to Maine for training. Also in harbor is the Island of Nantucket. Actually it was just the lighthouse ship that used to be off the island shore. They’re trying to raise enough money to make it a museum. On the trip back we went so close I could almost have leapt on board it. But, it was dark, so my pictures didn’t come out well.
It is very noisy in Boston harbor under the runway from Logan airport.

We didn’t go as far out as we normally do. But, there was a great sunset behind us.

As the sun went down we headed back towards the dock.

It is a very nice view coming into the dock by the city. But, on a rocking boat in the dark it is very hard to get a good photo of the experience.

The boat came back on the opposite side of the dock from where we left, so we had to move to let them tie us up.

Yes, the thought of not moving so we’d have to float around and sing more did cross my mind. But, we had already done our favorites.

Then, we were left with the standard Boston problem of the size of parking places in Boston.

It was, as always, a very fun time.

The Christmas Revels are quite good. But, not on a boat.
