Hostage for WOW

My boss sent me over to the other building to get some hinges for a
product. (Because the incompetent stock manger wrote back to us saying
“I’m too busy to get you parts”. As getting parts for people is his job, I
wonder about that. But, I digress…)
I went up to the wood shop manager and asked him for the hinges. He got a
(dirty) box, counted them out for me and held the box out to me. But, he
didn’t let go.
“So, my paladin has hit level 60,” he said. “How do I get the mount?”
“You do the quests,” I said, pulling the hinges from him.
“But, they seem really hard,” he said.
“They are. And, they cost a lot of gold,” I said.
“At level 40 I got the basic mount for only a few silver,” he said.
“Yeah, you won’t get the epic that way,” I said. “My paladin needed help
from my whole guild (I didn’t tell him it was the 6 person guild, not the
current 600 person one), and it took me more than a month to pay back the
gold I borrowed.”
“There isn’t an easier way?” he asked.
“Not for the epic mounts,” I said. “They’re called epic for a reason.”
“What server are you on?” he asked. I told him, it’s not the one he is on.
“That’s too bad,” I said. “Otherwise, I could help you out. If you don’t
want to do the quests, all you’ve got to do is pay the gold. It’s only 600
or so.”
“I don’t have that much,” he said.
“Then, do the quests.”
I took my hinges and left.
