Friends, dogs, lake

We had planned to spend the weekend visiting evrgreen and his wife. Sadly my job got in the way and I had to work on Saturday. We did have a nice visit with cissa and cosmicirony Saturday night, so that was a nice consolation.

But, we still wanted to visit our friends in New Hampshire, so Sunday morning we set off.


It is a nice drive.


New Hampshire takes those civil rights seriously. Their libraries are guarded by cannon.


They live down the first dirt road my Prius had encountered.


And, we got to their house just before lunch time.


evrgreen and his wife live on a lake with their dogs.


There are rumors of attack water foul, but this is unconfirmed.


We had a very nice relaxing visit.


Although not a big lake, there are some dedicated boaters who zip around it.


When lake traffic let up, we all went in the water.


Mrs evrgreen and I did swim across to the other side and back. It’s about 600 feet across. Just over 30 years ago I used to race the 300 & 600 when on the swim team. Although a long time ago, it is still a fairly easy swim for me. The biggest worry is the boats.


The dogs are also very concerned about the boats.


It was a very nice afternoon on the lake with our friends.


The squirrels are not so happy. They were running up and down the trees arguing with each other. It was hard to get photos as they move quite fast.


We stayed by the shore for most of the afternoon.


Then evrgreen made us dinner.


As the sun went down I was surprised how bright the trees stayed, and how dark the forest.

If I saw it lit that way in a movie I’d probably think it was unrealistic...

But, as we both had to work today, we drove back home.


It was a nice visit. Even if we only got to visit for a day, we had a very good time and I’m glad we went.
