Weird Dream
Apr. 5th, 2008 08:41 amI don’t normally remember my dreams. Once and a while I will. Sometimes that leads to a week or two of remembering a lot of them. But, usually it’s just one every few weeks or so.
Anyhow…
I dreamed that
In addition to the two of us were most of the members of Phoenix Swords> and my little brother. **
O’Connor’s had expanded again, as they’re known to do, and now included several gift stores and at least one clothing store. So, we were led through several rooms before we got to our table. My brother offered to take our coats to the coatroom and did. (Normally getting him to do anything helpful involves methods last used to get the pyramids built, but I digress.)
We had a nice meal. But, every time the owner came through to seat more people, he scowled at
When dinner ended we went and got our coats. Mine was not with the others.
“Oh, I put yours in the other coat room,” my brother said. “This one was full.”
So, I set out to find the “other coat room”. I wandered all over the place. In doing so, I found large sections of the building were empty. Sections I remembered being open in the past. I opened some doors and found freezers running, but sitting empty.
So, I thought “maybe his business isn’t doing as well as we think, and he’s just in a bad mood all the time, not at anyone specifically.”
I eventually came back to the group, without my coat.
“I can’t find it,” I said to my brother. “Where did you leave it?”
He brought me over to the gift shop area and pointed to a rack of coats.
“I put it there in this coat room,” he said. (Yeah, that is more like him…)
I found my coat. As it didn’t match the other coats in anything but color, the young woman working there didn’t stop me from taking it.
Then, on the way out, I stopped and talked with the owner.
“We couldn’t help noticing you staring at our friend,” I said. “We were worried you had a problem with him. Then, I saw the empty rooms out back and thought you were having trouble and that may be it.”
“Oh, no trouble,” he said. “We’re going to redecorate. I had to empty the place for the contractors. Next month it will all be open again.”
“Then, what’s the problem?” I asked.
“A while ago I had an encounter with a prostitute,” he said. “I ended up getting in a fight with her pimp and he knifed me. You’re friend looks just like him.”***
While he said it, he started to look different, like Bilbo did in Lord of the Rings when he saw the ring again. ****
“Did this happen in Australia?” I asked.
“No,” he said.
“Well, that’s where he’s from. He only just got here yesterday,” I said.
“I didn’t say it was him, just that it looked like him,” he told me.
“Well it isn’t him,” I said.
“Bring him back and I won’t scowl,” he said.
We shook hands and I walked out to meet the others.
There, the dream ended.
*That part is not at all strange. We take everyone there. We’ve been taking people there since they opened back in 89…
** That part is strange as I avoid my brother. I haven’t seen him in 8 years. He is 43 and still living at home with my mother. If you say Norma Bates, I’d say “No, not that normal.”
*** I should point out that this does not seem like the owner of O’Connor’s to me at all. First of all, I don’t see where he’d have time running that place to do anything else. Second, his wife runs the place with him.
**** I happened to watch that part last night on TV. So, I know where that came from at least.

Date: 2008-04-06 12:38 pm (UTC)that scene with Bilbo was so intense I think it is burned in my memory forever. It's strange too, as I'm fascinated with the sequence and change, but, mortified with the intesity at the same time.
