Morons of business

I’ve got this prototype being made at an outside company. The company that
took three months to send me the prints they told me they’d have the next
day.
A month ago, I sent them my parts. They said they’d add their parts and
send it back to me in week.
Still no parts.
Today the sales guy called me.
“We should have it back to you next week,” he said. “I’m sorry it took so
long, but they had to paint the handle.”
“Jim,” I said.. “Why did it take an extra three weeks for painting the
handle.”
“Oh, that’s only one week,” he said. “The other weeks were for other
problems. This week was to let the paint dry.”
“It takes a week for the paint to dry?”
“It does if you ship it to another factory in Germany to get it painted.”
I don’t know how these folks stay in business. Get a can of paint, paint it.
Don't send it to Germany!

It is stuff like this that is causing the increased carbon emissions that everyone is so worried about - sadly, this is how many business run these days, in pursuit of cheaper labor, or materials, or, in this case, fine imported German paint....

The company HQ is there. I'm sure that's why they did it.
But, it's still stupid.
We have our own powder coating line. (2 actually.)
So, if they had just said "We can't paint it" it wouldn't have been an issue.
