Movies this weekend

This weekend my wife and I went to see Men in Black III and The Best Exotic
Marigold Hotel.
We liked both, but in different ways.
MIB is certainly more action comedy.
TBEMH was certainly better acted.
Although, there are funny bits in TBEMH and the guy playing the younger K
in MIB did a fantastic job.

What is funny, to me anyhow, is how in both of them I kept looking for tie
ins with other movies/TV shows.

TBEMH has the woman who plays M in the James Bond movies and is set in
India.  There are a number of places where you almost expect to see one of
the Bond’s go dashing past.  It would not have had any impact to the plot
and is fun to imagine.

In MIB, part of the movie takes place around the Apollo 11 launch.  I kept
looking for The Doctor or some of The Silence.  I didn’t see any.  Or, I
don’t remember seeing any.  Hard to tell with The Silence.

We did see both at the early shows and paid matinee prices for them.  I
enjoyed both and had a good time.

We're hoping to get to MIB3 at some point - it usually takes a several weeks for us to see a movie after it comes out - Laura is not big on spontaneity, it seems. I was kinda interested in seeing "Bernie", but that would likely be a "go alone" kind of movie trip. Probably the same with "Prometheus"!
