Practice memorial day
May. 27th, 2012 07:42 pmIt was another high pollen day.

We left early, stopped by storage and picked up our back up tent from storage as our old tent bit the dust in Florida a couple of months ago.

We got a lot of folks out at the practice today, including some we haven’t seen in a while.

Doing it dozens of times a year for more than half a decade apparently makes it easy to remember.
Of course other folks are still working on learning new material.

I have been doing my fight with Tom this year, but it was still good to practice it.

I’m still working on getting Jose to learn the falchion.

Dave and Kara are doing the longsword Tom and I used to do from Joachim Meyer.

My wife and I are still doing the rapier from Giacomo di Grassi.

I’m doing Meyer’s dusak and Mair’s sickle with

As with above, it is nice to be doing it with someone you’ve been practicing with for years.
Kara is doing a lot of dagger.

Gil, who hasn’t been here since August is working on remembering his fight with Jose.

But, they had been doing it for a couple of months before he took some time off, so there is more relearning.
Dave and Snoozewadler are doing the Fiore dagger.

Dave and Kara are doing their Tallhoffer.

We also spent some time going through the stage acts we’re doing at Silver Kingdoms in a few weeks.

Jose makes a great princess.

After practice we drove across the dam for dinner.

Then, it was the drive back past the giant bear and home.

The nice thing is, even with the pollen, it looks nicer than winter.

It is nice to have tomorrow off. Not sure what we'll do with it yet.

Date: 2012-05-28 08:23 pm (UTC)Mostly local festivals, but some school shows, some library shows and some scout shows. We used to do a fair number of birthday parties, but the bottom dropped out of that market in 2008.
