Deal with the DMV or flee the country?

The Winter Wizard is not at work today because he is running to Canada and
back rather than deal with the Registry of Motor Vehicles here in MA.

I guess his Swiss license is good for a year after he enters the country.
Then, he needs to get a local license.  So, his solution to that is exit
the country and come back in and get another year of driving.

Thinking back to what I went through at the registry last month to get my
new car registered, I wish I had the choice just to drive to Canada and
back.  It would have taken longer, but been far less frustrating.  And, a
nice trip too.

I asked him about the driving, as it is about 6 hours each way.  He told me
he was doing it “the Swiss way”.  That is: get on a bus and let someone
else drive.
Don’t blame him for that either.

Wow. I find myself really jealous of this guy. Which is dumb, because it's totally easy to do our licenses here. But...BUILT IN ANNUAL CANADA TRIP!

This seems kinda silly, until one considers the type of person that is doing it. I've know several Swiss - and a few German/Austrians too - who would consider this same approach a perfectly logical, reasonable solution and done the same thing.
