I apologized to the factory manager for yelling at him Friday.
He was very nice about it. “I know dealing with those inspectors would
drive anyone crazy”, he said.
For my part, although I still feel he is incompetent, I understand that he
is way over his head and doing his best to keep on top of things. That’s
the problem with getting a job because the CEO is your buddy. It doesn’t
mean you’re qualified for the job.
When the factory was thirty people, I’m sure he was fine for it. Now that
it is 300…
Anyhow, as my boss said, I can’t have an adversarial relationship with them.

Yep, it's not the greatest but sometimes you do have to "save face", make amends, let [whoever] throw excuses/vent/whine and get it all over and done with, cause at the end of the day, you still have to work with the people. Just need to take a deep breath, and as you realized, maybe he's just way over his head and overwhelmed.

Still, the situation makes me worry...If the [company] is dicking off safety inspectors, regardless if the management "knows" how to fix the problem or not - still to me does not warrant an excuse for [incompetence].

tomorrow's another day, right?
