Although still a bit tired from yesterday, this morning we set off to go to storage and practice. Normally we’d give folks the day after a show off, but next Saturday we’ve got to do an hour long fire show and needed to work out the logistics.
At least it was nicer than yesterday.

There was some walk for something going through town. Don’t know what. Hope they did well for what they were trying to help.

I guess Sunday morning is a good time for that, but it does slow the road down. A lot.

Our storage space for the troupe is getting to be more of a problem. You’ve got to check in to get into the building and that has meant a wait of up to half an hour lately.

But, it is right along our route to practice and most shows. And, as it is a moving truck rental company, usually only bad about the times schools start and stop. But, it is very annoying those times.

Given how much mud we had yesterday, today’s practice started with sword cleaning.

Then, on to fire practice. Even for folks 8 1/2 months pregnant.

I worry less about this than the sword fight I worried about 6 weeks ago.

There was drying out of some of fire safety equipment too.

Can you tell where we lit his back last night?

Our newer fire eaters practiced some.

I won’t do it. But, they seem OK with it.

This looks too scary for me to try.

One of our newer guys did get a minor burn today. When he was lit (as is about to happen in this photo) he felt it went on too long. Instead of letting the person lighting him put it out, or the safety person do it, he decided to run for the fire blanket himself.
This doubled the amount of time until it went out.

At best a minor first degree burn. I’ve seen far worse sunburns. And, I’m given to understand when you feel it getting hot it can be hard to think “I should just stand here”.
By the time practice was over, the burn had almost faded away.
But, I still don’t like it happening.

But, our other people are picking up new tricks and doing well with them.
