The shows went well enough. Our first show, the historical sword fighting one, we had an audience that would react, positively, to everything we did. Strange as that is, it was nice.
As the day went by, the crowd was less favorable. But, it never got to the New England nasty level we’ve seen up north.
The sword lessons didn’t sell at all for the first 3 hours. Then, we did 35 in the next 3. That was good for us paying for dinner, but hard concentrated like that. Especially with act 2 in the middle of that time.
I had one little girl who could not have been more than 6 take a dagger for her lesson and attack me with it. Two high strikes and a stab as soon as I handed it to her. If that sort of thing didn’t happen once in a while I’d probably be short an eye. As it was I caught the stab and explained that is what we were going to do that for today's lesson.
Although always windy, it wasn’t too bad for the fire show. We started and ended early so we didn’t hold the crowd later than the security for the site.
It still took forever to get dinner. I guess that’s to be expected when asking for a table for 16 in costume on a Saturday night at a busy place.
Sadly my wife’s been sick this trip. Her cold came back, or it is another one. She still did her fights in the shows, but slept at the tent the rest of the time. She didn’t do the fire stuff because that was too dangerous if you’re not fully there. Yes, swords are safer because the other person can change speed, or make sure they don’t hit you. Fire isn’t as nice about it.
It was one of our member’s birthdays. We were going to take her out. But, at the end of the day everyone seemed very tired so we didn’t. Maybe Sunday night. I feel bad about it because she said getting to go dancing on her birthday was the reason she was willing to take the trip on her birthday. So, I hope we didn’t let her down too much.

I must not be getting enough sleep, 'cause I read the last paragraph and immediately thought of a kind of ren-faire Logan's Run: "It was one of our member’s birthdays. We were going to take her out. But, at the end of the day everyone seemed very tired so we didn’t. Maybe Sunday night." I guess Sandmen could work more slowly then whey everything was muscle powered.

I don't know what the settings on your sword would be - ripper is obvious, and if you have a Roman in the troupe they might be able to provide tangler. A firesword that would be close enough to nitro, but I can't figure out needler or homer. Several things come to mind for vapor, considering the resources available at the average faire ground, but I'll leave that one to you....

Needler would be rondel dagger. All point, no edge, for going through maile...
Don't want homer, no donuts...
