The good, part 3
Aug. 23rd, 2011 09:12 pmIt was our 250th show.
My wife had given me the assignment “make sure they don’t suck.”
At the last practice, I was still a bit worried.
But, I am very happy with the job the troupe did.
Yes, some of the things we did didn’t go as well as planned. Yes, there were problems.
No, not every fight was perfect.
But, the audience liked it.
I got nothing but compliments on all of our shows.
And, our consulting advisor who was there Sunday called me last night and said “that fight you finished with on your second round was very good. That’s the sort of thing I think your whole group should be doing. I was happy to see it.”
So, kudos to
Compliments like that are rare and I am happy to have two folks in our troupe who can pull that off.
Also, almost every troupe member went out of their way to really help out.
And, lots of others pitched in as well.
Saturday night I lost sleep over how we were going to break down and get off site in time on Sunday. I didn’t know how we would carry all the stuff away, or manage to get it all wrapped up at all.
But, everyone really helped out a lot and we were rolling out of there at 7:15, well before the 8:00 time.
As much as I hate injuries in the troupe, they handled it very well. Other than my conking myself, I didn’t even know the other two happened until the fights were over. The people in question kept going and when done left the field and took care of it. No one in the audience knew. No one was yelling or carrying on. The show went on and people took care of our hurt members.
I can’t say “that’s how I want it” because I don’t want it to happen at all.
But, the troupe did me proud this weekend.
And, I am very happy about that.
