I hate Scrabble. I always have.
People don’t believe me when I tell them that.  But, it’s true.

Now when they ask I tell them that Scrabble laid waste to my ancestral
homeland.  Generally, they don’t ask again after that.
And, it’s true.
The town in Vermont where my father’s family comes from (Fairfax) is where
they used to make the wooden Scrabble pieces.  When they switched to
plastic ones a dozen or so years ago, the closed the plant and laid off a
good percentage of the town.
(Coincidentally, my father died soon after.  Who can say if it was
connected???)

Of course the reason I hate Scrabble is my dyslexia.  Because of that I
totally stink at the game and have never enjoyed playing it.  (Or,
crossword puzzles.  If I go to Hell when I die, I expect crossword puzzles
to be waiting.)
Games with me inevitable end with someone saying something like “don’t you
see you could have made autodidactic here and scored 12 billion points?
So, I guess I’ll take those points for you.”

I am willing to play games where I’m not very good and/or not likely to
win.  But, it has to be something I enjoy doing.  And, Scrabble doesn’t do
it for me.
Good thing they did that laying waste.  It’s a great excuse.

I'm a word geek, but I've never enjoyed playing Scrabble. So we can sit over here in the corner and play something else.

yup, same here. I don't remember the last time I played scrabble, and that was many many years ago.

It's too much for me to concentrate on trying to form words, can't think strategically to place the words to get max points.

So, I dislike the game. Never that big on crossword puzzles, either.

When I was in elementary school, in computer lab (working on Apple //e), they made us use a crossword making program to make a crossword game related to a research paper project we had already been working on. Because I'd been doing the reading on the subject I was doing the paper on, I had a scarcely marginal interest/enjoyment of making the crossword because I knew all the answers. That was about the extent of it as I remember.

I liked playing scrabble with my Grammy and my Texas Uncle...mostly because we played for fun and would have nice conversations...and when I was real little, they would help me with words. Without them it has lost it's fun. I do like to find the wooden tiles at yard sales as I want to make jewelry out of them.

Hee! I am so totally awful at Scrabble. I may have all the tiles for "autodidact"... and I will find some spot and make "cat". Or "the".

For me, 3 letters is a serious win. :)

It's just not the way I think.
