My wife stopped for some fine Scottish food on the way to the class.

The camp was still being reconfigured from a 21st century sleeping area to a 16th century encampment. Some people really seemed to enjoy the transition.

Sunday morning we got to use one of my personal favorites, the dusack!

And, grappling with the dusack!

He explained well how you wanted your arms to move for that.

The class was just the right size that folks could switch around who they worked with a lot, but he could spend time with everyone.

Getting behind someone with a dusack or shorter sword is fun. You can tell by how my wife is still smiling even when it is happening to her.

Again, no pike pictures for the same reason. It takes 2 hands and I haven’t got an extra for the camera.
But, in the afternoon, it was back to swords.

We were all pretty tired, so there was a lot of review for that last lesson.

But, there were still some good moves he showed us.

One of the things I liked about it was he was almost always smiling when he showed us things. It was clear he really loves doing this and really enjoys sharing it.
Once the lessons were over, we went off to see some other friends of ours performing there.

Faire Wynds will go to great lengths to make sure the audience is looking at the right spot.

I had not seen their flea circus in person before.

Sometimes the fleas get lost and a search must be carried out.

But, they are always found.

Eric is not eating this man’s head.

He is swallowing pins.

And, thread.

The man is there to check that he isn’t just putting them under his tongue.
So, when Eric pulls them out all threaded, it is that much more impressive.

These guys were on after Faire Wynds. I promise I did not interrupt their act at any point.

The weather was getting that look again, so my wife and I headed back north.

It was a very nice weekend. We learned a lot. Ate a lot of great food. Talked with a lot of great people. And saw a lot of friends we don’t get to see that often.
Good time all around!
