Thursday when I called to confirm our flight, they suggested we get to the airport by 8 for a 10:30 flight. That seemed a bit extreme for flying out of Worcester, but just to be on the safe side, we set out about dawn to head over.

Well, we certainly got to the airport before there were any big lines of people.

One guy with a broom seemed to be all the folks there, and he didn’t seem to be in line to get on a plane.
About 9 some ticket agents showed up carrying some phones. Apparently they can’t leave the phones there as people come in and steal them. So, they bring them in on days with flights.
We got checked in, and through the security with plenty of time to spare.

It looked like the way to Florida was clear.

The plane was a 737-800. I’m not a big fan of 737’s in general, but the 800 is OK. At least they don’t fall out of the sky as often as the earlier series do.

One of the things about flying out of Worcester, the airport is on top of the tallest hill in the area. So, before you leave the ground, you’re already up over all the buildings in the city that aren’t at the airport.

If you know where to look (and I do) you can see where our apartment is from the end of the runway.

We did take off in the opposite direction from home, so no aerial shots of home. Sad.

I did notice that the engine of the plane has a “no people allowed on it” sticker on the side. I can only assume this is something added due to certain Twilight Zone episodes.

We quickly went over Connecticut and out over Long Island Sound.

My wife did ask me if there were any water spouts on the sound like that time 2 1/2 years ago. There weren’t.

Once we got south of New York, it was cloudy all the way to Florida.

But, once we got to Florida, the clouds did break up some.

When we go to South Carolina, there seem to be alligators everywhere. But, we never see them in Florida even though everyone we now who lives here say they are all over.
So, every swamp, we look for them.

We did find one in the airport there, but we’re not sure it counts as it wasn’t alive and was in a box.

And, the Orlando area traffic was waiting for a big “Merry Christmas” from me.

We stopped for lunch and cookie building materials and then went over to my cousin’s place. Our other cousins met us there and we spent the afternoon and evening visiting and making cookies.
It was a very nice visit and we made plans for other things this week.

Sadly when we got to the hotel (another monster place with half a dozen or more different buildings and thousands of rooms) we discovered it has roaches.
This made us sad.
But, we lived with roaches for 10 years before we got married. We know the drill. And, it means that when we get home we keep the bags in the car over night in the freezing temperatures and then bring it straight to the laundry room and into the suds.

All in all, it is has still been good so far and I’m looking forward to the next six days.

Well I'm glad your flight well so well. Those FL. bugs won't know what hit their pre-historic butts when they get to MA.

Hope you two have a blash this week. You deserve it.

Merry Christmas ( and I mean that as it should be.)

Worcester looks like an airport even I could handle. :)

It is certainly a low key airport. But, there aren't many flights out either.
If you're going to Orlando, it's fine. Otherwise...
