Door to door duck salesmen

My current office is just behind the receptionist.  So, unless my
headphones are in and turned up, I get to hear pretty much everyone coming
in and out.
This afternoon was a pair of door to door insurance sales people from Aflac.
“Hi, we’re from Aflac,” one said.  “Maybe you’ve seen our commercials with
the talking duck.”
The receptionist sent him away telling him that all of that stuff was done
by our corporate office in Switzerland and they should go sell their duck
there.

It was a “there but for the grace of God go I” sort of moment for me.  Last
year when I was out of work for more than 6 months, I got an email from the
same company saying “you might not think you’re cut out for insurance
sales, but come to our job fair and see!”

Now, I know what I’m missing.
Door to door sales where your best opening line is “have you seen our
talking duck?”
The day of that job fair I stayed home and played World of Warcraft.
I am 100% certain that was a better use of my time.
