Doctor my eyes
Sep. 2nd, 2010 09:07 pmPretty much everyone in my family, except me, wears glasses.
So, I was happy today when I went to the eye doctor today to be told my eyes are just fine. Apparently I got the whole family’s good eyesight as well as a good share of the sense of direction. According to the doctor, for a man who will turn 47 in 2 months, I have remarkably good vision. Equal to someone much younger then I am.
A bit nearsighted in the left eye, a bit farsighted in the right. The average just where it should be.
The doctor tells me it is very unusual that my eye test this year came out almost identical to the one 18 months ago. I assured him I didn’t cheat and copy. But, I guess in your 40’s vision often goes down hill quickly and mine is staying the same.
The bad news is my higher then normal eye pressure also remained right where it was.
But, it isn’t at a dangerous level. Since it is high, but not getting higher, I don’t need to do anything about it.
The bad side of getting my eyes tested regularly is the eye drops he uses. My pupils are still big 3 1/2 hours later. My wife took me out to dinner at the Japanese restaurant near us tonight and I kept my sunglasses on. Given the looks I got from the people across the table from us, I think they thought I was blind. That lasted until the chef tossed some zucchini at me and I caught it in my mouth. (My wife also caught hers.)
Tomorrow is my annual physical. Hopefully that will go as well.
