Dead on the New Jersey Turnpike
Sep. 1st, 2010 09:40 amLast week I turned my Saturn wagon over to
down to her niece who was buying it from me.
Although I had been driving it recently when the coupe was being fixed from
it’s accident and had no trouble with it, it broke down on her while
traveling along the NJ Turnpike.
Her family came and towed it the rest of the way, but I guess the engine
has “given up the ghost”.
It had, as I’ve said before, traveled a distance greater then from here to
the Moon, so I can’t really bring myself to feel it didn’t live up
expectations. But, I am very sorry it broke down on Julytooth and her
niece won’t get a car out of it.
I did give the check back for the car. This appears to have surprised the
buyer. I’m not sure why. I’d like to think that taking money for
defective goods was the exception, not the rule.
I am sad that it didn’t work out. Not because I needed the money. Getting
it off of my insurance will probably save me more then what I was asking
for the car.
But, I’m sorry that a car I drove for 8 years without ever having it break
down on me broke down on a friend the day after I turned it over. And,
that one of her family members won’t get a car that they need.
