Game night and Art in the Park
Aug. 14th, 2010 06:12 pmAs I got rear ended coming home from work on route 9 last Friday, and we were going over to
This did not work out as I expected.

The 11 mile drive took me more than 1/2 hour.
But, we got to game night and had a good time. Sadly
We played a lot of Dominion.

We also played Nanook.

Jeff was there and brought

We had a very good time and got home fairly late. So, we slept in and then headed into Worcester to visit the Art in the Park.
Much like last year, there are a lot of big sculptures distributed around Elm Park.

My wife said she would have liked this one more if it actually had moving parts. But, that would have been MUCH harder to build.
Of course, the park itself is dedicated to people:

This is the only one we couldn’t find:

It was supposed to be processed leafs that were magnetically stuck to things. We never saw one. Maybe people took them home to put on their refrigerators. I just hope it wasn’t counting the trash on the ground.

At first I thought these were ghosts not jellyfish.

This one certainly took up the most space. It went all over the pond.

This one looked like the hammer of a gun to me.

This one looks so different from the program or the web site that I didn’t recognize it.

I saw this one and said “Oh, it’s done in honor of Dr. Robert Goddard who invented liquid fuel rockets here in Worcester.”

But, I guess that was just me...
You could see this one across the whole park. Only the fact it doesn’t move let me know it was a piece of art and not people filling the pond.

I thought this one would have been great with a lit piece of glass on top.

I was somewhat worried stepping under this one, but it had a very big chain.

This one I thought was funny. It was like it was trying to replace the park’s pond with a bigger one from Norway...

These ones were OK, but not my favorite.

I liked this one a lot.

This one could be played like a musical instrument. The sound of it floated all over the park. It was very cool.

This is a very big board game. Maybe we should have brought it to game night.
