Last night we went to see Toy Story 3. They guy selling tickets seemed very surprised we opted to see it in only 2D when there was a 3D version available.
Almost all of the previews were for movies in 3D. For some reason it seems like most kids movies these days are coming out in 3D.

Now, I’m not trying to sound like I’m anti-tech or anything like that. But, I don’t really think it adds much to the movies. I’ve seen 3D ones and they were OK.
But, Toy Story 3 last night was just fine in 2D and I don’t think I missed anything other than the surcharge for the 3D glasses.

I can't remember which studio it is, but I read that some studio is ONLY releasing 3D movies this year.

It's the hot new thing apparently.

Yeah...3D is fun (and will pretty much always say "B-movie" to me) but there are very few films that it enhances. And, as far as I can tell, there are none where it's necessary.

I really hope the fad fades away soon.

sadly, I doubt it will. every industry is looking for a point of difference to maintain the churn, the MUST-HAVE-NEW-SHIT! creedo, which even more sadly, our planet cant sustain.
