Visit from the Godkids

I was very happy yesterday because the Godkids came to see our show. The
show was about 2 hours from their house. When they were up the weekend
before, we had mentioned it to their dad who said they might try and get
there. But, we were still happily surprised when they did make the drive
to see us.
Even with the long drive, they got there in time to see 3 of our 5 shows,
and we did a mini show for them to show them some of the other things as
well.
I got to hear about their new dog as well as see pictures of him.
Their dad, who was our roommate in college, used to be terrified of dogs.
And, it has taken all 10 years of my goddaughter’s life to get him to agree
to having one.
After the show we went to a Chinese buffet with them. While everyone else
was up getting food, I asked him about it.
“I thought I’d have a problem with the dog,” he told me. “But, I don’t.
The dog and I go for walks. He doesn’t bark at me. He doesn’t growl at
me. He doesn’t bite me. It’s actually nice to have him. I don’t know why
he is different from every other dog I’ve known.”
“I can tell you why,” I told him. “It’s really very simple.”
“Why?” he asked.
“Because, none of those other dogs were your dog. This one is.”
He agreed that made sense.
The other triumph of my goddaughter is a World Or Warcraft account. My wife
and I arranged a night and time where we can log on and help her play. My
wife even managed to lobby for a bit more then the 1 hour a week limit that
was set.
“Dungeons take a bit longer,” my wife said. “So, if we’re in one, you may
need to give her a bit more time.”
I don’t think we’ll be doing any high level raids, but it was nice to work
out an extension.
I am very happy we got to see all of them. It was a nice visit and I
always like an excuse where we can show off for them on stage.

Date: 2010-06-08 09:18 pm (UTC)That is great to hear about the Dog and him getting over some of his fear. I know I'm a little 'spoiled' in a way by growing up with a very friendly, easy-going dog, and I got used to friendly outgoing dogs - as well as other friendly dogs in the neighborhood.
I had a fear of horses for a very long time, but getting to "know" or interact with the Reed's two horses has helped break my fear - it helps if the horses are 'gentle' and easy-going, even if they are a bit spoiled and more like 'pets' than 'working' horses.
