And end of contracting

My boss brought me into his office this afternoon.
“I’m not going to be able to use you as a contractor any more,” he said. “You’ve done too good a job and the corporate people are telling me I’ve got to hire you full time.”
“To be fair, that was my goal,” I told him.
He made me an offer that’s pretty good. It isn’t as much cash as I’ve been getting as a contractor, but it is 80% of that with full benefits and such. So, a pretty good deal.
I’m not sure when it will take effect as there is paperwork to process for it, but I gave the verbal acceptance right away.
A week from today will be 1 year since I was laid off as a full time employee. Granted I've been consulting for 5 months, but that's still a long time between full time positions.
