Major progress!

fbhjrMy wife has told me that I can stop being afraid that I will come home and find a note saying that she has left me as happened in August.
She says that if she’s going to leave me again she will yell at me, look me in the eye and throw things and me.
This makes me very happy as I’ve been very afraid of coming home to find her gone with only a note to tell me.
And, it gives me a perfect way to make sure she doesn’t leave me again.
If she yells, don’t meet her gaze. If she can’t look me in the eye, she won’t leave.
It does make the throwing things problematic as I won’t see them coming and won’t be able to dodge. Hopefully they won’t be hard or heavy. If so, I have to worry they’ll knock me out and she can pull open my eyelid and finish the process.
But, it at least gives me a way to tell. And, I don’t need to worry about an empty house and a note.
So, I feel much better.

Date: 2007-12-17 06:14 pm (UTC)I'm laughing, but I'm not sure it reaches the innermost corner of my heart. Though, maybe the ability to laugh about it (as you seem to be doing) should be taken as a good sign? I do like good signs.

Date: 2007-12-17 06:31 pm (UTC)I have discussed with her that trying to find the humor in it is my way of dealing with it.
It has mixed results.
But, if my choice is getting very angry or trying to make a joke, I try and make a joke.
Not always good jokes. And, even I have to say, not always kind jokes.
But, I try and avoid the anger.
And, coming home again to an empty house and a note has been one of my top 5 fears. So, knowing she won't do that again does actually help me quite a bit.
