fbhjr: (sick)

I went into work today. I do feel much better then the other day. But, I am not over it.
Having no sick time, it costs me hundreds of dollars each day I stay home sick. Two sick days this week breaks my record for staying out of work so far this millennium. Even with the cost, I think it was the right thing to do.
But, I need the money, so today I went in.

When I sat down at my desk, I upended the bag of cough drops I left here on Tuesday.
Seven fell out.
Seven for 9 ½ hours.
Not what I hoped for.

“Wait until 9,” I said, looking at the small pile of them. “If you have less than one an hour, they will last all day.”
Every time I coughed I repeated that and looked at the pile.
9:03, I popped one.
“Eight hours, six drops,” I said to myself. “One every eighty minutes. That’s not enough.”

So, I looked in my coat pocket thinking one may have fallen out in there.

I found a bag with 20 more!
One every 18 ½ minutes is a lot better then every 80!
I was much happier.

(No, I did not go through one every 18 1/2 minutes. But, the fact I could made me feel better.)

glad to hear you are feeling better, and hope you recover fully soon!

it is more important to take care of yourself when you're sick. I'm sure I don't need to tell you the risk of getting the rest of the office out sick, or, having you push yourself too hard and making yourself even worse (ie hopsitalized) and how much worse that would be financially and health wise. :P
