Vacation, all I ever wanted
Dec. 20th, 2009 10:52 amI know, you’re thinking “Frank, you were out of work for 52% of this year, how can you need a vacation only 10 weeks after going back to work.”
First, being unemployed isn’t a vacation. Granted, I did have a lot of spare time and did get to live a bit slower then usual. But, it wasn’t a relaxing time as I was worried about getting a job, paying bills, etc. And, the no money thing isn’t the most fun way to spend a summer.
Second, the last ten weeks have been pretty busy and I am pretty tired.
So, this evening, onto a plane and off to Florida. While I really don’t like Florida much, I do like a bunch of people there. So, seeing my cousins, my wife’s aunt and uncle and the godkids for the holidays should be very nice. (If I can talk the godkids out of the mouse the day after Christmas...)
The only sad thing is for the first time in many years, my wife and I are not going to the Christmas Revels. Tonight, the longest night, is always the night I got tickets.
“But, you’ll be flying to Florida as they’re singing,” my wife said.
“Yeah, I should look at it as saving money,” I said.
“There’s no way the Revel’s tickets cost as much as plane tickets,” she said.
“The tickets no,” I agreed. “But, the CD’s, song books, and Christmas cards we usually get at the same time...”
OK, probably not. But, we did get a good price on plane tickets. And, with my godkids parents springing for the hotel room for the week, this should be an affordable Christmas.

Date: 2009-12-20 11:22 pm (UTC)Given my own stress levels and general need for alone time, I'm sending them all off and probably will go to the studio and hit stuff and set it on fire. Alone. :)
Have a great vacation!
