Depending on how you count it, today, yesterday or Monday has been half a year since I was laid off. (Monday in weeks, yesterday in 365/2 and today in months.)
Given the spin of the Earth and it’s orbit, which most of you know I pay attention to, that is 297,589,835 miles without a job.
Yeah, I calculated how much money I’d have earned in that time too. While more meaningful then the miles, it is more depressing so I’m not putting in here.

There is not an on line job posting I’m qualified for that I haven’t applied for within 75 miles from home, at least on the 5 different job search engines I use.
I’ve sent out more than 100 resumes to companies in the same area that have not posted jobs for engineers in the hopes that some of them will be looking and not yet posted.

I do have an interview tomorrow with a place that got one of my blind letters, so that’s some hope. The company that told me last week to expect a call back this week has yet to call. But, there is still hope.

I have been able to get other stuff done. The house really, really needed the cleaning and I needed the time off to do it. I’ve been able to spend a lot more time doing things I like, and that has been very nice. I haven’t had to deal with some of the people where I had been working who frustrated me very much and made my life more difficult.
So, it’s not all bad.

But, I really want to get back to work.

Id love to employ you, doing great things for this world.

I hope I'm in a position to, very soon.

A real shame you have nowhere to store that van. It could be enormously useful to you and perhaps even me in the longer run.

Im not being greedy or grasping. I'm just saying that you with a van = opportunity to do stuff you might not be able to do otherwise, for instance, get me a Ducati driveline for a Zike special order, that sort of thing. A shame you have a crap relationship with both sides of your family. Thats got to suck sometimes when it comes to having places to stash vans etc :)

But there may be a place to stash a van. Especially if I can get the Intrepid out of my driveway.
