I've seen some spiders like yours up here, though the markings were more orange&white.
When I pulled the outer half of our dock off, one of the largest wolf spiders or huntsman spiders I've ever seen came out from under it, walking on top of the water. The diameter of its leg span was easily 3 inches ! We watched it scramble across the water, onto the beach and into the bushes.
