As I’ve gone on for at length, spring is the time my alergies are the worst. But, when the cotton woods blow their seeds around, my wife really gets it.

And, this week was bad for that. At one point it was like a snow storm with all these little seed cases floating around.
The good news is that it doesn’t last long.

Friday my wife went off to visit her mother and ended up at lunch with her mother and her mother’s boyfriend.

That took her several hours longer than we expected so we nixed going to the icon museum this week and headed for [livejournal.com profile] julytooth’s house where she and [livejournal.com profile] adorabrightmoon were doing some extra sword practice.

It seemed to be bad driver day, slowing us down even more.

This one example of a person who blocked 2 lanes of traffic to make an illegal let turn into heavy traffic is only the one I bothered to photograph. There were many other examples.

But, [livejournal.com profile] julytooth made a very nice dinner for us, so it was still nice to be out and about.

Today was still a “pollen turning the car yellow” day. But, now there are lots of seed pods too.

There are so many they form little tumbleweeds in the parking lot.

The faire in NJ we’re getting ready for involved a plot of assassins. So, Rachel showed that she could blend in and would be a good assassin.

Jose? Not as much.

To avoid more issues like [livejournal.com profile] palusbuteo had a couple of weeks ago, I’ve brought more protective gear to practice.

It is quite a bit of fun sparing with [livejournal.com profile] perrin_o_ravnos. While good exercise, it also does my ego no harm to be able to hold my own against someone 20 years younger than me.

But to work out a performance fight with the sickles, we took off the safe, but hot, gear.

I’m not sure if we’ll keep the headbutt in or not.

The sickle up the shoe might work well, but I’m not sure it is sufficiently repeatable for using in a show.

One of my projects is to find a better way to do the fire juggling in our fire shows. I’m working on developing juggling sticks where we can add wick. The problem, of course, is I don’t know how to juggle sticks.
[livejournal.com profile] perrin_o_ravnos is working on showing me.

Although a sunny day when we went into practice, it was pouring rain when we came out.

But, the rain stopped soon after leaving interesting skies.

And, a really big rainbow.

Maybe it is a sign that June will bring better things. I hope so.

You out and out kick my ass at longsword. I'm happy when I land even a wrist hit on you with the sabers though. I enjoy them more and more. I vote we try out the dusak next week. gently, but at least give em a try.
