When I came out to the cars this morning, they were encased in ice. As I
started to chip away at them a van went past me trying to get up the hill.
For the whole time I chipped away at my car, which was at least 10 minutes,
he tried to get up the back side of our complex, which is only about 100
feet. He had the petal to the metal. His wheels were spinning and it
sounded like a dentist drill.
By the time he was close to the top, his wheels were smoking due to the
speed they were spinning. But, he was still going slower than I could have
walked.
Just as I finished up chipping, he went around the corner. That side of
the complex is just as long, and even steeper. So, I was very worried he’d
still be there when I got there. I considered going the wrong way, but
decided not to be evil.
As I got in my car, I saw the big pickup truck with the U.S. MARINES
sticker go around the corner. He didn’t spin the wheels and just drove
slowly over the ice.
I did the same. I didn’t go fast, but went steady and went around the
corner.
The van and the Marine were gone. Not even at the top of the hill.
Now, the Marine had watched with me this fool in the van spend 10 minutes
spinning his wheels on the ice as he chipped out his pickup truck.
Maybe the guy in the van got a clue, stopped and drove out slow and steady.
Maybe the Marine didn’t use his big truck to push the fool up the hill.
I just don’t know.
