Jumping Monday
Nov. 12th, 2007 08:18 amSo, when I went out to go to work this morning I found my car dead. No
power at all.
I’m not sure why. The lights were not on. It drove well on Saturday. My
door was slightly open, so maybe the dome light drained it?
I hope that was it an not another electrical problem.
The unanticipated bonus of my wife’s return was her car parked next to mine
and her jumper cables. So, rather than calling AAA, I hooked her car to
mine and got mine started.
And, was still on time to work.
Hopefully this is not a sign of how the rest of the week will go.

Date: 2007-11-12 01:25 pm (UTC)2) Alternator - check it for good voltage at various revs - it may need brushes or bearings or both, but of course its cheaper to just buy and fit a changeover in most situations
3) chase 'leaks' as you describe, dome lights etc
4) be cool

Date: 2007-11-12 01:40 pm (UTC)2) The alternator was checked when the battery was replaced.
3) This is the tough one as there are quite a few in this car with 340,000 km under its belt.
4) It's zero C today. Cool isn't an issue.
I do think it was the door ajar. And, given the age of the car, I'm not surprised.
But, as cars aren't my thing, I do appreciate being pointed in the right direction. :)

Date: 2007-11-12 11:00 pm (UTC)So, I suspect it was the dome light draining power with the door a bit open.
