Car update
Dec. 28th, 2025 07:04 pmThe needing to replace the axle of my car led me to think it was only going to need more and more repairs.
It was almost 14 years old with more than 210,000 miles (338,000km) on it and worn out.
But, I really, really liked my Prius C.
Sadly, they haven’t been sold in the US in 6 years, even if popular internationally.
I did search for US cars of the same model on the used market and found on in Nevada, far, far away with only 1/7th the miles on it and two years younger.
I paid to have it shipped here without agreeing to buy it.
Saturday we cleared the snow off my existing car and went to see the "new" one.

They’re very similar.

After driving it, we decided to pay to swap to the younger, far less traveled car. Technically "my" Prius was in my wife’s name and "her" Subaru is in mine.
So, she had to do all the transfer work, but it all went through without issue.
Today we brought my worn out Prius in, where they gave us a small trade in value, and we got the new one.

I had my first one for 5027 days (13.7632 years), 210,397 miles.
I put a total of 4,319 gallons of gas in it for an average milage of 48.7174 miles per gallon, which was much better than its predecessor.
Based on the Saturn SC2 I drove before it, that saved me $6,283.59 in gas over those years.
It was a very good car.
I really liked it.
Hopefully this new version of it will be just as good.

Date: 2025-12-29 03:16 am (UTC)As you know I can totally relate with the mixed feelings, not wanting to give up the older car but it's to the point where repairs are too expensive.
I hope the new one goes as long as the old one.
