We ate breakfast at the hotel. Not bad, but the least of the breakfasts we had on the trip. Still not bad, but all the others were great.

The hotel is directly across the street from the castle, so it wasn’t a long walk. This was just as well as my hip really hurt a lot that day.

One section of this castle still functions as the courthouse for the area. This was not totally clear to me at first and I did not think it well marked.

We found the second building inside that was the museum and went in.

They had one of the 4 surviving Magna Carta copies there, but you couldn’t take photos of it. I’ve seen 3 of the 4 but haven’t been allowed to take photos of any of them. sad.

I found the cafe and a scone while my wife looked around. By the time my scone was done the ibuprofen had kicked in and I was more willing to walk around.

Then, the walls of the castle. It’s a walk all around the perimeter. You are supposed to go counter clockwise, but a school group of young kids was going that way, so we went clockwise instead.

It was very windy, so you weren’t allowed up in the towers. But, there was still plenty to see along the walls.

Then, out of the castle to go over to the cathedral.

It is a very big church.

They did have a "hands on" section where you could actually sit on some of the chairs. That’s as good as benches.

They’ve got some other old stuff too.

Then, back out and down to the river where the bridge my wife wanted to see was.

There was a cafe in it, so we ate lunch there.

Then, back out to the car and south towards the airport.

We had to stop and get gas, and for the London area the GPS took us down some narrow roads. But, we did save 80 pence per liter in gas, so it knew what it was doing.

After much driving about, a tour through the parking garage that cost us 6 pounds, I finally managed to return the rental car.

I was very impressed by the blockers for the rental car lot.

The hotel was very expensive and tried to be very upscale, but it wasn’t out thing. Give me the Howard Arms along the wall any day.

That’s just such an interesting “Weird fact about Frank”. I love it.

Wow, that’s cool! It’s so rare that they let you touch anything at a historic site.
