What’s up with this December?

I wasn’t surprised my wife tested positive for Covid today. It has been 3 days since I did. And, the cough she started yesterday sounded very familiar.
I was surprised when my wife’s aunt called and said that my wife’s uncle has liver cancer, and apparently has for a year. I guess the doctors in Florida either missed it, or just kind of hoped it would get better? The ones here in Massachusetts were not fooled.
The implications of this are still being worked out, but they aren’t good.
His sister, my wife’s mother, died several years younger. So, my wife looks at it as bonus years with her uncle. But, it is still not a happy thing.
(This is the Uncle and Aunt we took to Ireland in 2019 for the 10th anniversary of my mother in law’s passing: https://fbhjr.dreamwidth.org/1308590.html)
Today was the day we were going to arrive in Florida to see my family again after the funeral last week. My cousin’s daughter’s birthday is tomorrow, and we had hoped to celebrate it.
But, with both of us having Covid, we’re here at home.
A massive storm is reaching us tonight after causing havoc all over the country. It was 10C today, and will be -14C tonight. That’s quite the temperature swing. The wind is whistling by us quite loud now.
We’ll see how this goes.
I’m glad to be home when sick. But, I am still sad about missing my family.
I hope things don’t get worse.
