One of the reasons we picked this cruise is that they are very environmentally conscious. They are careful about where they land, file impact statements for all of them, stop going places if there seems to be an impact, don't dump waste in polar waters and do what they can to minimize impact. (They're also expensive, so they can afford to do all this...)
A good percentage of the expedition team has worked as researchers there and we had 3 ornithologists and 3 marine biologists on that team. If anyone didn't show respect for wildlife they were on them instantly. I say this as someone who took one step too close to a seal and had one of the marine biologists practically tackle me to keep me away. (I had thought the warning flag was marking a penguin nest and was trying to keep clear of that, and didn't realize it was a seal marker...)
