When we woke up this morning we were pretty close to the center of the Drake Passage. Despite this it was actually calmer than before. Not calm, mind you, but calmer.

The maps of winds and waves agreed with this assessment.

We went for the bigger breakfast today in the main restaurant.

After our morning lecture on lichen (I didn’t photograph their slides), we went to a short class on taking better photos with our iPhones with the ship’s camera expert.

He seemed very impressed when suggesting how to stand and move when taking a panoramic photo, my wife used a sword fighting step and moved quite well.

He did know some good things on settings and such he showed us. And, what target ranges are good for shots of icebergs and such.

Then, off to lunch followed by a lecture on sea birds.

As the day passed, the waves picked up more.

At 5 we went to a briefing on tomorrow’s plan when we actually reach Antarctica. I can’t lie, the plan is to do one of the things I most hoped for. But, we are on the very last boat going ashore and might miss out if the conditions change.
Hopefully they’ll stay good.

For dinner we went to the restaurant up on top of the ship on the open deck.

They give you heated volcanic rocks to cook your food on. My wife finds this hilariously funny.

I did cut my steak to look like Patagonia.

We’re going to bed at a reasonable time. Hopefully conditions will be good for tomorrow!

Well, that's certainly a new one!
