Deep South, day 1
Dec. 10th, 2021 06:57 pmWe had to get a covid test saying negative before we could get on an outbound plane. I had scheduled us appointments as soon as I could, which was two weeks previous.
Now, we just had to find the place at the airport.

I ended up asking some of the maintenance works as I was sure they’d know. They did.
The hotel has lots of extra room, but is not easy to get around.

I’m told someone jumped off this balcony and died last year.

While we waited for the test lab to open we had breakfast.

My wife liked the glass art on the wall and the elf shoes.

We took the elevator down to the tree.

There was a line of one person with appointments and 20 or more for the ones without. I’m glad we had them.

They swab you there, but will only give you a paper output. No electronic copy and you have to be there for it. So, you have to wait in the general terminal.

This was so bad one woman in line just fainted.

But, we got our negative test. That let us fill the Chile health form on line. (Which was maddeningly difficult.)
Then we went off to see our cousin only to find her husband was at the airport and needed a ride.
So, back to the airport.

Then, off to lunch.

I found I had forgotten my eyedrops, but my chain of pharmacy is there, so the filled it and I walked back to my cousins.

The pharmacist said it is so common he’s programed a button for “special vacation only refill”.
By evening we were back at the airport. The limit for bags is 50, so I came right up to the limit.

We walked enough I hatched 3 eggs.

We were NOT upgraded for the first flight, but it was less than an hour long.

I don’t think this is a document…

People were in a big rush to get off.

We had to walk 2km across the Miami airport and go through security again, but got to the gate for our midnight flight with plenty of time.

For the overnight flight we had the nice “pod” seats that fold flat.

They shut the door just at midnight.

Date: 2021-12-12 09:38 pm (UTC)Having just had my second Covid drive-through test up here, the thing that slows everyone down is that they make their appointment, but then don’t see that the next step is to actually reserve a test kit. You can always tell which cars in the line missed that step, because the swabbing takes a couple of seconds, but the people who didn’t order a kit yet? Gotta log on and do their paperwork before they can get tested.

LOL.
