My wife wanted to see the fantasy art exhibit at the Norman Rockwell museum. Its right on the New York border, so about a two hour drive from here.
Saturday morning we got up and drove west.

The museum is up in the mountains in the western part of our state.

The museum is at an old estate of someone who supported Norman as an artist and turned it into a museum to him after he died.

Seems to be a nice place if you can keep the dragons in control…

In addition to the museum that has a lot of his art, they have a sculpture park on the grounds. As we got there a bit before they opened, we walked around that for a while.

It continues past the hedge, but the museum was opening and we had timed tickets so didn’t cross the hedge at this time.

Later on I banged my shins on this stone wall/bench. It was quite painful…

I had not expected so many folks to be getting into the museum at 10AM.

It’s good for the museum, but a strange feeling for us…

We did go right for the fantasy art. They had quite a few pieces with a 400 year range, with paintings, book covers, comic books and role playing game covers, so a good range of subjects.

I was surprised by the giant head in the third room. You can’t see it until you enter the room, and it is quite large.

I remember this cover from where it was published.

And, of course, benches!

Of course as it is the Norman Rockwell museum, they have a lot of his art too. Including different versions.

I don’t see Alice’s Restaurant in the painting, even though it was done about the time of the song…

I did like this one.

Never seen a Presidential Medal of Freedom in person before.

Then, back out to look at more sculptures.

Of course, you know which one really got my attention…

My wife thought it was funny to have her photo taken in front of this one.

Then, back home. The drive home had much worse traffic, but we still got home in not too bad time.
