Flora in winter 2019
Jan. 26th, 2020 08:43 pmEvery year the art museum near us has a Flora in Winter exhibition where they match flowers to artwork for only a few days.

We weren’t sure this would work out for us this year with everything else going on. But, they opened early Sunday, so we decided to go before sword practice.

We got there early, before the galleries were open, and good thing too.

We looked at other exhibits before they let us in. The lava lamps were still warming up, and not very interesting.

There are two kinds of flower set ups they do there. One is where they try and match the flowers to a specific piece of art. The others are just artistic flower arrangements.
There are a lot of each. So, I’m going to show them by categories.
Here are the decorative ones:

There were less of the pure decorative ones this year. We weren’t the only ones who noticed that. On the main stairs there was a woman talking about previous years where the stairs were decorated.

I did like this one.

For the ones trying to match certain things, some worked better than others.
These are the ones I don’t think matched well.

This one I really did say "are you sure it is the one on the left?"

This one I couldn’t tell which one it went to and had to look it up.

It goes with this one.

I didn’t see it in these.

This one there was one to either side, but I didn’t think either really pulled it off.

These ones were OK.
At least this one got some of the shapes.

At least I knew which one these went with.

I thought this one did a good job with it.

I thought this was a good match too.

My wife liked this one a lot.

My wife also liked this one as she said it matched the negative space.

My wife and I agreed this one was the best.

I thought this one worked well, even if didn’t match the chapter house it was placed in.

There were some that tours just made it hard to get near.

They even decorated the bathrooms.

Oh yeah, benches too. You know how I like that in a museum.

I guess local construction is causing problems for the museum as they’ve set up seismographs to measure it.

There were some new paintings I didn’t recognize.

We had an early lunch in the cafe.

Then, headed off to sword practice.
The lava lamps were much more active as we left.
