Christmas and home
Dec. 28th, 2019 09:44 amChristmas morning my wife went to my cousins to begin making cookies. I went off and picked up my other cousin and brought her over there.
We went off to Christmas lunch at The Macaroni Grill, which was open Christmas day. Half their staff didn’t show up, so the food was cooked by the managers.
After lunch we went back to our cousin’s place where we set up a video link to their son in Texas so we could all have a nice Christmas visit. The biggest part of that was everyone’s reaction to his new beard.
Chinese food was ordered for dinner and presents distributed.
It was a small gathering, but still very nice.
Boxing day we drove out to my wife’s uncle and aunt. The same ones we went to Ireland with last month. My wife had been trying to arrange a meet up with them the whole trip, but finally called them and just said "we’ll be there in an hour."
The drive out to their place took longer than the visit. Her aunt’s sister was there as well, and my wife doesn’t like her.
Then, we headed north.
Traffic was heavy, but not as bad as when we headed south before Christmas.
We got to Virginia about 11 at night and stopped.
Traffic on Friday was worse. Especially in Connecticut. The first 50km in that state took two hours.
So, instead of getting home about 3 in the afternoon, we got home about 6.
It was a good trip. Now I’ve got to catch up on laundry and photos. There’s a lot of each…
