The Ennis experiment

As I’ve written of in the past, my wife doesn’t like the town of Ennis in Ireland for no reason we’ve been able to determine.

So, having her uncle with us this trip, we decided to see if it was a family thing or not.
Sunday morning as we drove away from the airport, I took the highway that goes around Ennis just to keep away.
We had our failure to see anything good in the fog and rain, and then I drove back.
On the way back, I went straight through the heart of the town.
As we got into the town, my wife’s uncle looked around.
“This is very familiar,” he said. “We’ve been here before, right?”
“No,” I said. “On the way out, I took a different road.”
“Really? It’s very familiar.”
“Have you been to Ireland before?”
“No.”
“Then I don’t see how you could know this place.”
My wife said it was about that point she got a headache.
I don’t know what it is about that town. But, my wife’s instinctive dislike continues. And, the only blood relative of hers we’ve brought there thought they recognized the place despite never having been in that country before.
Very strange…
