Maine Ren Faire

Saturday we got up at 4 and set off well before dawn.


The drive up was pretty foggy.


And, it was still foggy when we got there.


You don’t need that much visibility to unpack and set up.


My wife’s crafting partner was already there.


Eventually the others showed up and helped…



Folks showed up to get in before the faire was open.


And, soon the queen appeared to open the gates.


Devin was more interested in the unicorns than the queen on the horse.


The elder child of glass stayed up the whole night before, so slept through the day.


But, sword fights were done.


Tom and I checked out the other fire act.



Their music was much like ours. At least until he played the viola…


And, still we did sword fights.




The rubber chicken was very impressed.


But, still we did sword fights…





Then, we did fire.




Afterwards, we went for dinner at a local place.


My wife and I went back to the site to sleep in the car.


I’ve had worse nights, but was glad enough when morning arrived.


Then, the queen showed up to start it all again.
You can tell day one went well, because on day two the queen had retainers.


First kids acts.




Then, more sword fights!




Some folks get really into that "put him in a bag and sit on him" stuff…


I found the coins we give out in the kids act a ways away later.


Then fire, combined with the other group.



We got things packed up and were on the road pretty quickly.
But, traffic on the way home still meant we didn’t get there until after 9.

Over all, not bad.
