My patent for the robot freezer that is the base of all the products my department makes was just approved.
It was submitted 4 ¾ years ago.

When I started here 5 years ago, my boss lured me here from the competition saying “you’ll get to design the robot freezer the way you always thought it should be done.”
The old company had initially submitted my ideas for a patent, but then abandoned those efforts.

Good thing as they were very similar. I doubt this one would have been approved if the first one didn’t get abandoned.

This makes my 4th in 33 years. But, I didn’t get any for 28 of those 33, so it is nice things are going through these days. (I have two more applications in. So, hopefully there will be more.)

Or, to be more accurate, it is nice that these days I work for companies that are willing to patent my ideas rather than tell me they aren’t worth the effort. (I’m supposed to say something like “I’m not bitter” here, but I don’t like to lie…)

I am a bit surprised that this one showed up first. We did the robot part and the freezer part as separate ones. I thought the freezer would go quicker as it is just a modification of an existing freezer that has a patent on it already.
So, the new automation going first is a surprised.
But, a happy one.
Yay!
