I shall call this bat Prometheus
Mar. 29th, 2019 08:36 amIt is still dark when I leave for work. But, as spring moves in it is getting warmer and lighter than it was.
This morning as I was leaving for work and driving through our parking lot to the road, a little bat came flying out from between the buildings.
It was the first bat I’ve seen this spring, although bunnies have been out for several weeks.
The bat noticed my car and turned. But, it turned so it was flying in the same direction of my car. And, not very high up, only about windshield height.
I was driving about bat flying speed, so it stayed hovering over my hood.
We went at short distance and it looked over its shoulder at me.
It really did seem like it had a look saying “that wall I avoided is chasing me!” and began to flap harder.
But, it really didn’t go much faster.
It kept looking over its shoulder, getting a frightened look, and flapping harder still, but not going right or left, over the whole length of the parking lot.
At the end of the lot, I have to take a turn, and did.
The bat gave one more look over its shoulder and looked less stressed.
Poor little bat. I wasn’t chasing it on purpose. But, I didn’t have the option of turning, or flying higher, and it did…
