The Great Gnome Race

In our WOW guild, I won the great gnome race last night.
Well, I was happy about it.
The shark in this icon did eat my gnome. But, I got spit up on shore and kept running.
I only beat the second place gnome by a second or two at most.

Isn't catching a ride in a fish's gullet considered cheating, or is this an "anything goes" kinda race ?

If something kills you, your ghost shows up at the nearest graveyard. There you can opt to come back to life, with penalties for the next 10 minutes.
The rules said we could do that and keep running if we wanted.
So, the key was to die in places where you could get ahead from it.
(We had to create 1st level gnomes for the race. The penalties at 1st level are hard to notice. At 70th level, they are huge...)
